Social Media’s Influence on College Admissions:

Social media is not the wave of the future. Social media is the now and present way people are looking at top recruits for jobs and especially at college recruits. Negativity could be a perception that comes to mind when thinking about social media and college admissions, but it doesn’t have to be. In a recent article published by CNN, they found that social media positively impacts the college admission process.

Thirty-five percent of 365 college admission officers surveyed admitted to reviewing college applicants’ social media accounts (CNN. 2017). Students who use their social media accounts to help tell their story and post valuable and notable information helps colleges build a more rounded picture of who that student is.

Through each unique eCourse, Social Assurity will address the importance of building a positive and productive social media presence, as well as how the permanence and discoverability of an individual’s digital footprint can help, rather than obstruct, future academic and professional pursuits.
