BPA Congratulates Inaugural Star Member
Valencia King of Rowlett High School

Valencia King is a senior at Rowlett High School and will graduate with Honors and a Texas Star in June 2010.  Valencia maintains an active schedule which includes AP/Honors classes in English, Math, Foreign Language, History and Science.  In addition to her academics, Valencia serves as Captain of the Refined Lady Eagles Step Team and a Committee Chair with Student Council, Youth & Government, Debate, DECA and Business Professionals of America programs.  

Valencia has received a variety of recognitions and awards, winning district awards in Debate, DECA, Business Professionals of America, Youth & Government and Step.    She received a Garland NAACP Youth Council Image Award for her “Commitment and Dedication to Educational Excellence and Leadership in the Community” and a Winner’s ribbon in the Academic category of the Texas Girls' State Fair  and the Women’s Museum: An Institute for the Future.

Her community involvement includes being a member of the Garland Youth Council with Mayor Ronald E. Jones and Congressional Youth Advisory Council with Congressman Sam Johnson.  She is the Teen Host for PositiveXchange TV, Spokesperson/Youth Advocate for Mothers Against Teen Violence, member of the DFW Poetry Slam Team and Red Carpet Correspondent with Out of Body Films.

Valencia is the proud scholarship receipt of the YMCA of Metropolitan Dallas, ZONTA Club of Fort Worth, Neighborhood Credit Union and SYNC/CONTACT Crisis and will be attending a four year university and major in journalism with a minor in business. All in all Valencia is well rounded and will be an asset to our world in which we live.

 

 

Texas BPA has launched "BPA Stars," with the purpose of giving recognition to those members who excel in areas beyond this organization. We are looking for stars that shine in scholarship, service, leadership, honors and awards, among many other related fields.

Look in your chapter! Do you have any outstanding BPA members who have excelled in other areas?

What about members who…


• participate in works of charity?
• are devoted to helping and serving their community?
• have been awarded scholarships?
• have excelled in sports?
• are science fair winners?



Texas BPA wants to give these exceptional members a place to shine!!!

Submission Specifications

 

To have pictures/information published on Texas Business Professionals Website, you must provide a release form. Before you send the pictures/information that you want published, please print out the form, fill it out, including the proper signatures, scan and save it as a PDF. Email the form as an attachment to the Texas BPA State Advisor. Then email your pictures/information to the Texas Business Professionals webmaster. Once we determine that the release form has been received we will publish the pictures/information. Keep in mind that the pictures/information may be cropped and edited due to space constraints.

Please note that we reserve the right to select which pictures/information to place on the website. In general we will publish pictures/information that show BPA members that shine in more than just the BPA arena. Pictures may be published without comment or individual picture identification. Use the following link to send pictures/document. Make sure you provide the name, date and school/chapter name with the information.

Please remember that the Media Release Form must be sent for each person appearing in the pictures as well as for each name that appears in printed documents.

Information must meet the following specifications:

Each picture must be sent as a separate file, in JPG format.

All information must be typed in san serif 12 point type in caps and lower case letters, in DOC format. Information in all caps will not be accepted.

Required information must include accolades achieved by BPA members in areas of service, scholarship, honors and awards.

As the page grows additional limitation may be imposed for the sake of space.
