2011-12 LEADERSHIP CAMP

"At first, admittedly, I did think the camp was going to be generic and pointless teachings over things we already knew. In the end, I realized that the camp helped me open up to new people, ideas, and most importantly my inner confidence. This wasn't a camp for me toward the last few days, but rather a prized memory which will never be forgotten."         ~~ Shahrukh Panjwani, Regional President

"Camp was a lot of fun, but above all was a learning experience. We learned to work as a team and figure out one another's strong and weak points. We learned everything we'd ever need to know about BPA, but we were afraid to ask, and all the manuals and guidelines cover to cover. As we begin the school year, we carry all of this knowledge back to our chapters to help grow them, promote BPA within our communities, and most of all share the fun as well as the skills that will help us in the future."   ~~  Katie Westmoreland, State Officer

“BPA officer camp was a great experience that benefited me a lot. From the sessions we had, I learned valuable speaking skills that will allow me to lead the regional conference this year. I also learned many team building skills that will allow me to become more efficient as a member of a team. Overall, camp was a blast, and I had a great time during the activities. It was also great to get to know the other officers better, and I am sure they got just as much out of camp as I did.”  ~~ Trenton Spuza, Regional President

“Camp was a great experience for me. From it, I now have the skills to speak publicly and professionally. I have had the opportunity to bond and become close with people I would have never met. I also made some amazing memories that I will not soon forget.”  ~~ Ariel McDonald, Regional President

“I am grateful for my opportunity to attend officer camp, as it allowed me to recognize the strengths I have as a leader, and gain enough confidence to enforce those strengths during my term as an officer. We were critiqued on many skills such as speaking, teamwork, and organization, all of which were so beneficial in building us up as efficient officers. Camp also enabled me to grow extremely close with my fellow officers, and build relationships I know I will carry with me forever. Coming from all over Texas, it's great to be able to meet others with different perspectives, and learn from them. BPA is an organization I'm passionate about serving, and camp only helped steer me in the right direction on how to do that.”  ~~ Tyler Scott, State Officer

“When I first arrived at camp I was so excited to meet all of the officers. I was a little shy at the beginning of camp, but after the days went by I opened up, and found my true self. I learned so many things from camp that I have applied to my everyday lifestyle, and it has changed me completely. I met other officers who are just like me who are dedicated, and have a passion for BPA. Camp was a great experience for me, and I've seen a change in myself, and I am glad that I am a part of the officer team. BPA ROCKS!!!!”  ~~ Gregory Willrich, Regional President

“Camp was an eye-opening, educational, and all-around amazing experience. I met some of the most remarkable people and their positive attitudes and strong leadership made me realize the kind of person I aspire to be. The opportunity to better my speaking skills, work as one cohesive team with 22 strangers, and watch others overcome their fears was at times challenging, but overall very rewarding. I know I can take the skills I learned from Brian and apply them to everything I am involved in, such as how to appreciate how others learn and accomplish tasks.”   ~~ Shelby Eckhardt, Regional President

“BPA Texas officer camp was a life changing experience for me and every other officer who attended. Not only did we get to spend a week together getting to know each other and become closer as not only officers but a family, we learned and gained skills that we will be able to use both in the BPA organization and our lives. We had a rock awesome speaking/team building coach who taught us how to work effectively as officers and how to work well with others under any condition. This experience is not one to be forgotten and one that I will cherish as I serve as the Texas state Historian for the 2011-2012 term alongside my new family of officers across Texas.”  ~~ Victoria Nobles, State Officer

“My camp experience was very uplifting! I met and gained friends of a lifetime. During my week of business, I learned how to be a leader and work with my peers.  Camp definitely has changed my life and will help me greatly in the long run.  As Business Professionals, we are born to win, prepare to win, and expect to win! Oh, and the food was good. =] “  ~~  Michelle Nguyen, Regional President

“Camp was an amazing experience that I will never forget. The things I learned will always stay with me from how tospeak to adults and portray myself in a more businesslike manner to speaking in front of hundreds of people. The activities were always fun to do and they all taught us how to work as a team and not just to lead but also how to be led. I can honestly call the rest of the officer team family.  I talk to most of them just about every day and we’re all extremely close and I know that even though we will go off on our separate ways and adventures, none of us will ever forget the people or the things we learned while attending camp over the summer.”   ~~  Perry Stafford, Regional President

“Being a part of this summer’s officer camp was a privilege and great opportunity. This was an experience that helped me enhance my skills, venture out to meet new people, while giving me the chance to discover what I am capable of doing and accomplishing. Business Professionals of America has drastically impacted my life. It seems as though being exposed to B.P.A. has molded me into something greater than I have always imagined!!!”  ~~  Gabrielle Miller, Regional President
